What is ChatGPT about?

Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is a chatbot written in Python designated for extending short messages,
to long, detailed paragraphs. The chatbot uses prompt engineering to find answers to someone's input,
in order to create an output in detail. To dive deeper into this context, it will search for answers
on the internet, and compile them for an output.

How many people currently use ChatGPT?

At this time, ChatGPT is used by over 100,000,000 people, which dominates in the A.I. scene.
66% of users are male, while 34% of users are female. The country with the most ChatGPT users
live the United States, with India in 2nd place. At least 60% of users range from 18 to 34 years of age.

The controversy around ChatGPT

In Temple University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a professor named Dr. Stephanie Laggini Fiore
states that she wants students to learn more about artificial intelligence, while not being used for academic dishonesty.
Since chatbots spiked in popularity in early 2023, students not only in Temple University, but in other schools across
the United States, have been falsely accused of using A.I. assistance for academic purposes.

Misusage of ChatGPT

According to Bleeping Computer, some people may use the chatbot for illegal purposes.
For example, they may write phishing emails, in order to scam other people. In the United States,
the perpetrator(s) of such fraudulent activity may serve up to 20 years in federal prison.

Countries that have banned ChatGPT

As of April 12, 2023, seven countries do not allow ChatGPT for use.
The countries that prohibit ChatGPT are: China, Cuba, Iran, Italy,
North Korea, Russia (including the occupied regions of Ukraine),
and Syria. Some of these countries have banned
ChatGPT, in fear of the United States spreading
disinformation with the chatbot.

What are the limits of ChatGPT?

Like any other A.I., ChatGPT has its limitations, too. It cannot detect humor,
nor can it detect any sarcasm. If the user types a joke as the input, ChatGPT will take it seriously.
The A.I. lacks human background knowledge, thus occasionally giving a nonsensical output.
One of the other major flaws of ChatGPT is its inability to have true, emotional understanding
of real-world problems. At the moment, the bot has a difficult time multitasking.

Summary

ChatGPT has many users, taking over the A.I. community by storm. However, people may use it for
negative purposes, going as far as using the A.I. to perpetrate crimes. Not only that, but some
countries have banned ChatGPT to prevent possible propaganda. Similar to other bots,
ChatGPT is unable to replicate human emotions. While ChatGPT may be
useful, it has areas that cause concern.
